Jacques Côté, the Group President of Canada Post's sprawling physical mail division, will deliver one of the keynote presentations at Print World this year.
With a significant proportion of all printed material in Canada being processed in some way by Canada Post, the crown corporation has a huge impact on the print, direct mail, transaction and publishing industries.
While the post office faces challenges, it has not stood still. Canada Post has invested $2 billion in its new Postal Transformation program, which introduces delivery efficiencies and new sorting machines. The modern machines allow for more creativity and fewer restrictions on direct mail packages, in addition to processing enhancements.
New
Mail Guide specifications to come into effect in 2013—and to be highlighted at Print World—will give direct mailers greater freedom with envelope design, among other improvements.
All Print World attendees will have full admittance to Mr. Côté's keynote, scheduled for Monday, Nov. 19, from 9 to 10 a.m., just prior to show opening. Watch for news of other keynotes to take place on other show days.
Other Print World features for the direct mail and postal industries include the National Association of Major Mail Users' annual Postal Forum; a Canada Post booth for the first time at the show; and exhibits from related suppliers including
Insource,
Sydney Stone,
PDS Pressdown, several paper mills and more to be announced.
